Getting Started Using Forms On-A-Disk in Word 2007
Microsoft Word 2007 is significantly different from previous versions of Word. This can have a drastic affect on Forms On-A-Disk documents if you don't know what you are doing. This page should give you enough information so that you will have no problems using Forms On-A-Disk documents in Word 2007.

New Instructions for Using Forms On-A-Disk Documents in Word 2007
- Change Default Save Format - Click the Office button and click the Word Options button. Click the "Save" item in the list on the left. In the "Save documents" section, for the "Save files in this format" setting, choose "Word 97-2003 Document."
- Word 2007 will be in "Compatibility Mode" while you are using Forms On-A-Disk documents; you will see the words "Compatibility Mode" in the titlebar (see below). This simply means that Word is operating in a mode that will retain compatibility with Word 97-2003 users.
- Starting up a new Forms On-A-Disk document requires you to click on the Microsoft Office Button (the circle at the top-left of your Word application window (see below)), click "New," then click, "My Templates..." Find the template you want to use and double-click it.
- When saving Forms On-A-Disk documents in Word 2007, save the file as a Word 97-2003 document. There are two ways to save a new document. The easiest is by selecting "Word 97-2003 Document" from the "Save As" menu. Or, you can just click the "Save As" menu button and you will get the "Save As" dialog box. If you changed the default save format as instructed above, you don't have to worry about this part. Click the "Save as Type" drop-down list and choose "Word 97-2003." Never save your document with the new Word document format (*.docx), even with the "Compatible with Word 97-2000" box checked. You will lose all automation features and you will no longer be able to edit the document after you close it.
